Choros I

The sandcasted sculptures were made by imprinting actual mushrooms into sand and finishing the modelling by hand. After harvesting the mushrooms in Czechia i made the casts in Amsterdam. I followed through this act of placing these natural shapes out of context by putting the glass sculptures on the edge of a highway. The light of cars within the glass, captured by the camera created abstract landscapes, resembling an organic, almost cellular communication or a perhaps a city landscape. The glass sculptures and the videos were a part of an installation called Moon Milk, which dealt with an interesection of technology and nature. I am choosing to highlight the glass casting in this submission.
