The Story of the Stanislav Libenský Award
Founded in 2009 by Marek Veselý and organized by the Prague Gallery of Czech Glass, the Stanislav Libenský Award (SLA) was born with a vital mission: to safeguard the future of contemporary glass art by uplifting the visionaries of tomorrow.
Named in honor of the legendary Czech glass masters and educators, Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová, the SLA helps young talents bridge the difficult gap between art academies and the competitive professional art world. Today, it stands as the premier global stage for emerging glass artists.
A Global Launchpad: From Prague to Pilchuck
Our mission is to celebrate innovative approaches to glass and provide a high-profile platform for young creators. Throughout our history, we have proudly exhibited 627 artists from 81 schools worldwide.
Each year, this international celebration culminates in a breathtaking exhibition at The City of Prague Museum – Clam-Gallas Palace. Inside this prestigious Baroque palace, we unite diverse artistic cultures through a shared passion for glass.
We don't just showcase these works; we actively propel careers forward. In a life-changing catalyst, our First Prize winner receives a summer residency at the world-renowned Pilchuck Glass School in the USA, granting them elite training and a global network to shape the future of the art form.
Sustained by Our Visionaries
As a non-profit initiative, our ability to discover and elevate these global talents exists entirely thanks to the generosity of our Patron’s Club. This passionate community of art collectors provides the vital foundation that keeps the SLA alive year after year, nurturing the next generation of glass masters.
